The annual European Farmer's Market is a recurring dimension in the whole region: 'Farmer's markets are highlights of the agriculture direct marketing, the local farmer's market is a top event in the district', said agriculture minister Hans-Artur Bauckhage.
Apart from culinary highlights the farmer's market offers a livestock exhibition with cattle breeds, sheep, goats and fowl, a pony exhibition and riding shows.
Old handicraft art was from the beginning a steady part of the programme. Rope-maker, basket weaver, rake maker, scythe sharpener, handcart maker and many more traditional trades can be seen at the farmer's market. On the programme are also for instance rapeseed oil pressing, fruit pressing and the real Westpalia art of the Latwerch boiling.
The market is also useful as an information exchange. The district administration Kusel advises about support programmes. Refuse advise office, public health authority and the tourist information Kuseler Musikantenland gives further useful tips. The frame programme contains much music.
This year the Farmer's Market took place on the 27th and 28th of September in Herchweiler statt. |
